The Agenda Festival

Audley Villages will be exhibiting at the first Agenda Festival on Monday 22nd May 2023, where our CEO Nick Sanderson is one of the panel specialists. In a topic called 'Hermit or Hermit Crab? To move or not to move' Nick and a team of guest speakers will discuss the pros and cons of staying put or upping sticks.

We spoke to David Wellesley Wesley who gave us more of an insight into the thinking behind the Agenda Festival...

What is the Agenda Festival?

Agenda Festival | Life’s Fine Time

Join us at The Hurlingham Club on 22nd May for a fun and inspiring day celebrating all the rich opportunities of later life. Created for those who want to live life to the full, the Agenda Festival will inform and entertain with a wealth of witty speakers, plus experts with the inside track on everything from finance to healthcare will share invaluable advice on how to make the most of later life.

Ours was the generation that really did have it all. We wore miniskirts and bikinis during summers of love, slept with spies and travelled the world on a shoestring. We thought we knew it all. Now we really do! Let’s carry on...

This is the first year for the Agenda Festival, how did you identify the need for this type of event?

Ten years in the making! Back in 2014 we launched the idea of a consumer fair to celebrate the rich opportunities of later life here in London. It is amazing how much the sector has bloomed since then and how the seemingly monochromatic set of options has become a plethora of choices, 2023 felt like the right moment to relaunch with gusto. People are no longer 'retiring' but relishing life's fine time and the Agenda Festival has been designed to inform, entertain and inspire.

The festival is offering a variety of talks throughout the day, how did you decide on the topics for each of the sessions?

The decision for a content-led festival format was part of the original brief, this discerning audience will buy-in to the event only if the talks programme appeals to their curiosity. So, I planted that responsibility firmly with two very bright and funny 'boomers', one very English and one very American who between them have produced unique sessions, musical interludes and cabaret performances for our Agenda audience to enjoy.

Agenda Festival 2023

What is the meaning behind the name ‘Agenda’?

Agenda has no comparable, a consumer fair for this demographic literally does not exist, so we have made it all up as we go. The premise behind 'Agenda' was to literally 'set the agenda' in that a bit of thinking and planning goes a very long way. Definition: 'a list of aims or possible future achievements' and this positive and inspiring Festival will arm our visitors with a bountiful supply of aims and possible future achievements for Life's Fine Time.

Tell us a little about other events you have arranged in the past?

We launched the Independent Schools Show back in 2007, a showcase for private schools in London, just as the global financial crisis began, and have since staged over 70 consumer events worldwide helping parents find the right school. In collaboration with the Evening Standard we have launched Step Up Expo at London Olympia, StepUp Expo will provide a platform for young people to explore and discover different career & education paths, meet with employers, universities, colleges, and vocational institutions, and interact with brands with teen specific campaigns to gain a better understanding of what it takes to succeed in today's fast-paced, competitive world. It will also address key issues around teen life including stress, anxiety, exams, new initiatives and Diversity & Inclusion.
