Audley completes on new site in Lingfield

Lingfield Grange planning permission granted

We are delighted to confirm the completion of a new site in Lingfield, Surrey, with planning approval for 152 retirement living units. Audley Group purchased the 15-acre site on the St Piers Estate, from the charity, Young Epilepsy. Upon completion, the village will be Audley’s fourth site in Surrey and 22 nationally.

Young Epilepsy will remain as neighbours with the new retirement community. Their work to improve the St Piers education campus will include the removal and reuse of vacant and underused buildings, refurbishment and expansion of college facilities for young people, as well as the restoration of heritage assets, including two Grade II Listed buildings within the St. Pier’s Estate.

The 152-specialist retirement living units will be home to the Audley Club, providing property owners and members of the local community with access to a restaurant, spa, gym and wellness studio. Once complete, the village will also offer care to property owners and members of the local community through Audley Care, Audley’s stand-alone Care Quality Commission-registered care provider.

Young Epilepsy currently offers special education placements for 200 children and young people with complex needs at St Piers, and additionally provides diagnostic services for around 450 children per year in its health facility. The charity is Tandridge’s largest employer and provides 580 jobs to local people. The addition of the retirement village to the estate will add further employment opportunities for local people.

John Nettleton, Group Property and Partnerships Director at Audley Group, said:

“We are extremely pleased to have completed on this incredible site. For the past couple of years, we have worked really closely with Young Epilepsy to ensure that we support the charity in securing its future while we work to create something really special for the local community.

“We are now looking forward to getting the building work started and creating much-needed retirement units and facilities for the people in and around Lingfield.”

Mark Devlin, Chief Executive at Young Epilepsy, said:

“It’s been fantastic to find a partner like Audley Group to work with on the rejuvenation of the St Piers Estate. We are incredibly passionate about continuing to deliver our specialist services to children, young people and families living with epilepsy and other complex needs. The funding injection will make our plans for the future of St Piers School and College achievable. Not only this, but it will also improve the whole estate with benefits for the wider local community and environment.”

About epilepsy:
112,000 children and young people in the UK are living with epilepsy, that’s around 1 in every 200 young people. Children with epilepsy can feel frightened, lonely and misunderstood.
Epilepsy is a neurological condition that disrupts the normal electrical activity our brains use to communicate with the rest of the body. This disruption causes seizures.
There are over 40 different types of seizure and every young person’s epilepsy is unique to them.
In most cases, epilepsy is well managed, and seizures are controlled, but it is a very serious condition and can be life-threatening.
