Phillipa Gill – Leisure Club Manager at Mote House
I have been teaching Zumba for 10 years and have so much Zumba love!
It makes keeping fit so much fun and I love nothing more than seeing class participants smiling and enjoying their exercise to music.
I specialised in teaching Zumba Gold almost two years ago and I have really enjoyed bringing this program to active older adults at Audley Mote House.
Zumba Gold is a fitness program specifically designed to take the exciting Latin and International dance rhythms created in the original Zumba program, to the active older adult, beginner participants and other special populations that may need modification for success. It has been created to emphasise the basics making it easy to follow for people of any age.
This Latin-inspired, dance-fitness program includes dances like Salsa, Merengue, Flamenco & Tango. The party like atmosphere it creates is exhilarating, easy, effective and provides a safe full body workout. It is great for the mind, body and soul.
According to the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), the goals of an exercise program for older individuals are “maintenance of functional capacity for independent living, reduction in the risk of cardiovascular disease, delaying of the progression of chronic diseases, promotion of psychological wellbeing and provision of opportunities for social interaction.” Zumba Gold achieves all of these goals.
Starting in July, I will be teaching a Zumba Gold class on the Audley Club app and cannot wait for you to join me. The classes will be on a Thursday at 10.30am starting on the 9th July!
Existing club members, make sure you register with the app and get online. See you there!
